Sell your own vocal plugin.

If people keep asking how you get your vocal sound, you already have a product. Make it a plugin instead of a preset pack, so it works in any DAW without the buyer owning your exact stock plugins, then sell it from your own store.

Preset pack or plugin?

A preset or chain file only works if the buyer has the same DAW and the same plugins you used. Every "it doesn't load" message is a refund or a bad review. A plugin carries the whole sound with it: one thing to install, the same result in FL Studio, Ableton, Logic or anything that loads VST3 or AU.

Preset pack vs plugin
Works in any DAWPreset: only the one it was made in. Plugin: any VST3 or AU host.
Needs other pluginsPreset: often. Plugin: no.
Knobs your fans understandPreset: whatever the stock plugins show. Plugin: the controls you choose, named your way.
Looks like yoursPreset: no. Plugin: your own faceplate and name.

From your sound to a store

  1. Pin down the soundBounce a dry vocal and your processed version. Write down what changes: tune speed, brightness, how much grit, which delay note value. That list is your one-line description.
  2. Make the pluginDescribe it in one line, play it on the dry vocal, and tweak until it matches your processed bounce.
  3. Give it a name and a faceA short name people can say out loud, controls named in your words, colours that look like your brand.
  4. Build your storeYour store lives at yourname.sidechain.studio. You can build all of it on the Free plan.
  5. Publish with a planSelling needs Creator ($29/month) or Pro ($79/month).
  6. Connect payoutsPayouts run through Stripe and take about five minutes to connect. Sales go to your Stripe account, and Stripe moves them to your bank on your payout schedule.

Fees and refunds, in plain numbers

  • Sidechain keeps 20% on Creator and 15% on Pro. Card processing is covered.
  • Every plugin plays in the buyer's browser before they pay, so they hear it on their own voice first.
  • Buyers can get a refund within 14 days if they never opened the plugin in a DAW.
  • If you cancel your plan, what's already on sale stays on sale. Putting new plugins on sale needs a plan again.

Make your own

Describe it in one line.

“my signature vocal: clean tune, bright air on top, a dotted 1/8 delay and a short plate”

Questions

Asked a lot.

Yes. If your audience likes how your vocals sound, describe that sound. You don't need to know what a compressor ratio is to get it right; you need to hear when it matches.

They get a licence key in their receipt email and sign the free Sidechain Player in with the same email. Their plugins show up in it on any device they sign in from.

You can build your whole store on Free. Publishing it needs Creator or Pro.
